Services

What TravelerSide can help with

Start with the practical question: what can you actually ask TravelerSide to help with during your trip?

Getting around

If you get lost or unsure while moving around, TravelerSide helps you work out the next step using signs and information available on the spot.

Japanese communication & facilities

At hotels, stations, shops and facilities, TravelerSide helps connect what you want to say or confirm in Japanese.

Families & groups

When traveling with children, family members or a group, TravelerSide supports getting around and local communication while staying attentive to the different wishes and circumstances of the people traveling together.

When mobility feels uncertain

When useful, TravelerSide can help check concrete information such as steps, elevators, walking distance, places to rest and toilets, using official information, information available on the spot, or confirmation with facility staff. TravelerSide does not certify or guarantee accessibility; the goal is to help you get the information you need to make your own decision.

Changes of plan

If weather, crowds or how you are feeling make you want to change plans, TravelerSide stays attentive to what matters to you and helps think through what would feel right for the rest of the day.

Lost items & unexpected difficulties

When something unexpected happens, TravelerSide supports the communication and contact needed so you are not left facing the situation on your own and can connect with the appropriate people.

What travel time gets spent on

Even small things can take longer in a new place.

Search and translation apps solve many travel questions well. But at stations, shops and facilities, some situations still depend on what is happening on the spot and on communicating with people there. TravelerSide supports those moments from the traveler’s side by helping confirm information, communicate, and work out the next practical step.

Searching

Spend less time figuring things out.

When transport or facilities are unclear, TravelerSide helps with available information and Japanese communication so you can work out the next step.

Together

More time looking up, not down.

Support is designed to respect the time you spend with your family or travel companions, stepping in when practical help is useful.

Your pace

Support that respects your plans and your pace.

TravelerSide does not put you on a fixed sightseeing route. Your wishes and the situation that day remain central.

More eyes up. More moments together.
Not a fixed sightseeing route

You choose where to go and how to spend your time. TravelerSide provides practical local support within your own journey.

Your own travel expenses

Your transportation, admission fees, meals, purchases, experience fees and other costs for yourself are paid by you.

If the staff member also needs admission

If accompanying you inside a paid facility requires a staff admission fee, the amount is explained and agreed before use. No markup is added.

Outside Tokyo's 23 wards

If additional staff transportation is required, the details and amount are shown before the booking is confirmed, and only agreed costs are charged.

You do not need to choose a plan before asking.

When TravelerSide is a strong fit

You want the freedom to travel your way — and someone local to turn to when practical problems come up.

TravelerSide is especially suited to travelers who want both independence and practical local backup.

You want to choose your own day

You do not want a fixed sightseeing route and would rather decide where to go based on your own interests, energy and mood.

You want less friction with language and movement

You would value someone local to turn to when stations, hotels, shops or facilities become confusing.

You want to protect time with your companions

You would rather spend less of the day searching, translating and checking, and more of it enjoying Japan together.

Sometimes another service may fit your goal better.

TravelerSide does not try to be the right service for every travel need. A specialist may be a better fit when your main goal is:

  • deep historical or cultural interpretation → a specialist or licensed guide
  • booking transportation and accommodation on your behalf → a travel agency or booking service
  • nursing care, medical care, child custody or continuous monitoring → the appropriate specialist service

If TravelerSide is new to you

You should not have to book while important questions are still unclear.

A service is harder to choose when you do not know exactly what it does, what it costs, who will support you, or what happens after you inquire. TravelerSide aims to make those points clear before you book.

What support looks like

See concrete situations first: getting around, Japanese communication, plan changes and practical travel problems.

What it costs

Core prices are public. If an additional cost must be agreed before booking, the reason and amount are explained first and only customer-approved costs are charged.

Who supports you

TravelerSide brings experience supporting people in different circumstances, including international visitors, older people, people with disabilities, children and families, while respecting each traveler’s wishes and pace.

What TravelerSide does not do

The service is clearly separated from travel-agency work, nursing care, medical care, child custody and other specialist roles.

Cancellation and refunds

Important conditions can be checked before booking, including what happens when the service cannot be provided.

Customer feedback

After launch, feedback is shown only when it comes from an actual TravelerSide customer who has agreed to publication. Fabricated reviews are not used.

How TravelerSide supports your journey

Freedom to enjoy your own time, with reassurance close enough to help.

You are the main character of your journey.

You decide where to go and how to spend your time. TravelerSide supports local communication and practical problems while respecting your wishes and the way you want to travel.

The time you spend together matters.

TravelerSide may accompany you from a little distance when that better suits the atmosphere and flow of your journey. We value a comfortable distance that lets you enjoy time with your family or travel companions while still having support available when something comes up.

Freedom + reassurance

The value is not in having someone beside you every moment. It is in being free to enjoy Japan in your own way while knowing there is someone local you can turn to when you need help.

Requests outside Tokyo's 23 wards are welcome

Tell us if you are considering support outside Tokyo’s 23 wards.

The representative's normal train, subway and local bus transportation within Tokyo's 23 wards is included in the service price.

If additional transportation costs are required outside the 23 wards, the details and amount will be explained before the booking is confirmed, and only costs you agree to will be charged.

TravelerSide will consider the location, schedule, travel time and safety when discussing your request. Depending on the place or date, it may not be possible to provide the service exactly as requested. Paying additional transportation costs alone does not guarantee service in every area or on every date.

Local support after airport arrival

Support begins when you actually meet the representative at the airport.

Before booking, TravelerSide confirms details such as your airport, flight number, scheduled arrival time and destination after the airport.

You are not expected to contact TravelerSide while in transit procedures

You are not expected to contact TravelerSide while on the aircraft or while going through immigration, customs or baggage claim. TravelerSide also checks flight-operation information that can reasonably be confirmed independently.

Meeting time

Service time starts when you actually meet the representative at the airport. A final possible meeting time is set before booking for each request. All airport support must end by 22:00.

If no service can be provided because of circumstances outside your reasonable control

If a major flight delay or cancellation, immigration, customs or baggage procedures prevent you from meeting before the agreed final meeting time and no service can be provided, it is not treated as a customer-initiated cancellation and the service fee is refunded in full.

FAQ

Common questions before booking

Check the questions that matter without reading every detail on the page.

Is TravelerSide a sightseeing guide or a fixed tour?

TravelerSide is not built around a fixed sightseeing route. You choose where to go and how to spend your time. TravelerSide provides practical local support with getting around, Japanese communication, plan changes and travel problems.

How much does TravelerSide cost?

2-hour Local Support is ¥20,000, 4-hour Local Support is ¥30,000, and Flexible Day is ¥50,000. The standard price covers 1–5 people; from the 6th person, add ¥5,000 per person.

Can TravelerSide book hotels, transportation or tickets for me?

As a normal service, TravelerSide does not make, change, cancel or rebook transportation or accommodation on your behalf, hold payment for those arrangements, or sell transport-and-accommodation packages. You choose, contract and pay; TravelerSide can help with explanation and communication when appropriate.

Can families with children or older travelers use TravelerSide?

Yes, these are among the intended use cases. However, TravelerSide does not provide nursing care, child custody or continuous monitoring. We ask about the actual party in advance so we can confirm what support can be provided safely.

How do I check whether my preferred date is available?

Send your preferred date, party size and basic request through Trip Inquiry. TravelerSide reviews the details and availability, then contacts you. Sending the form alone does not confirm a booking.

When is my booking confirmed?

After TravelerSide confirms the details and availability, a booking is confirmed only when both the electronic signature for the Terms of Use and full prepayment of the service fee are complete. Payment instructions will be provided after the Square payment flow has been confirmed operational.

TravelerSide follows up

TravelerSide uses the details and schedule you provided to explain the service arrangements and costs clearly.

Electronic signature + full prepayment

Your booking is confirmed only after both the electronic signature of the Terms of Use and full prepayment of the service fee are completed. Completing only one does not confirm a booking. Payment instructions will be provided after the Square payment flow has been confirmed operational.

Payment deadline

After the Square payment flow has been confirmed operational, payment instructions will be sent. The standard deadline is within 24 hours after the invoice is sent. If the service starts in less than 24 hours, an individual deadline will be set for that booking.

After confirmation — service day

After the booking details are confirmed, service begins based on the agreed place and time. For Airport Arrival Support, service time starts when you actually meet TravelerSide at the airport.

Important information

Clear information before you decide.

The points below summarize important conditions. The Terms of Use electronically signed when the booking is confirmed apply to that booking.

The full Terms of Use are provided for review in the electronic-signature step before a booking is confirmed. Square payment/signature instructions will be provided after the flow has been confirmed operational.

Cancellation

Cancellation fees are based on the confirmed service start time in Japan Standard Time.

  • 48 hours or more before: 0%
  • 24–48 hours before: 50%
  • Less than 24 hours before: 100%
  • No-show without contact: 100%

Where the Airport Arrival Support special rule applies, that rule takes priority.

Late arrival & no-show

Except for airport arrival cases, service time is counted from the booked start time. Arriving late does not automatically extend the end time. If there is no contact for 30 minutes after the booked start time, the representative may end the wait.

If TravelerSide cannot provide the service

If no service can be provided for reasons on the TravelerSide side, the service fee is refunded in full. If only part cannot be provided, the unprovided time is refunded according to the formal Terms of Use.

Disasters & major transport disruptions

If an earthquake, typhoon, large-scale public-transport disruption, evacuation information or another serious situation makes safe service difficult and TravelerSide reasonably determines that service cannot be provided safely, a full refund applies if nothing can be provided, or a time-based refund applies to the unprovided portion.

If the previous day's emergency or disruption affects your booking

If emergency support during the previous day's service, a disaster, major transport disruption or another unavoidable circumstance makes it difficult for the representative to start at the booked time, TravelerSide will contact you as soon as this becomes known. It is not treated as a customer-initiated cancellation.

Depending on the situation, the response will be one of the following: adjust the start time, shorten the service and refund the unprovided time, or refund the service fee in full if the service cannot be provided.

Emergencies during the service

If illness, injury, an accident, an incident, a lost family member or another emergency occurs during the service, safety is prioritized. Where appropriate, the representative will call 119 or 110 and continue until handover to emergency services, a medical facility, police, family, accommodation staff or another appropriate party.

No extension fee is charged for time required for the emergency handover.

What TravelerSide does not provide

TravelerSide does not provide medical treatment, diagnosis, treatment decisions, medical instructions regarding medication, nursing care, childcare or ongoing supervision. Where appropriate, TravelerSide may call 119, accompany you to a medical facility, or support communication at reception.

Transportation, accommodation & tickets

You choose, book, purchase, contract and pay for transportation, accommodation and tickets yourself. TravelerSide does not normally make transportation or accommodation bookings, changes, cancellations or rebookings on your behalf, hold or arrange those payments, or sell transportation-and-accommodation packages.

Some parts of travel are outside TravelerSide's control

Weather, transportation, facility operations and other circumstances may affect the trip. TravelerSide does not guarantee every aspect of safety, the resolution of every problem, the operation or opening of transportation and facilities, or access to every requested place. If TravelerSide has legal responsibility due to its own intentional or negligent conduct, responsibility is handled in accordance with applicable law.
